Off Sides

I wanted to like "Off Campus".  It was about hockey.  Supposably.  There is hockey in it so hockey likers should like it.  That was the message as I understood it.  The stars of the show showed up at some rinks or something and had photos taken with actual hockey players and that's how I found out about it.  So I checked it out.

It didn't actually start off that good for me.  The opening was fun enough in that the music selection was good.  And then there were shots that would of course accompany it.  The male protagonist is in a hockey rink.  Training by himself for some reason, which I guess does happen sometimes.  And then the female protagonist is cleaning stuff.  She is listening to some 80's stuff.  That makes her cool.  I'm not sure what specific job she has that she is going around the campus cleaning.  She doesn't seem to continue in that role later on in the series (though I am only at Episode 2 at this point).  But the chore serves its purpose because that is how we get the meet cute where - spoiler alert! - she sees him naked in the shower.  This is because she has been listening to the 80's music in her headphones and must not have heard the water running.  And now the viewers are intrigued.

And then somehow she ends up in the same class with this stranger who she saw naked.  She must not have recognized him because she sat right in front of him in class.  Being in close proximity, he notices how smart she is as she was the only one to get a really good grade in that class.  I think it was English?  Or some variance of the subject.  He is not doing so well in that area but he needs to do so because he otherwise could not continue to play hockey obviously so he determines that the only way to get his grades up is to get this girl to tutor him, not to actually study or get some help from the college.  They must not provide that for their student athletes is my guess.  Or he is too dumb to realize it.

Then this otherwise respectable, hardworking young lady falls for some campus rockstar.  But, get this, he doesn't like her back.  So obviously she should keep obsessing about him and stalk him and figure out how to manipulate him into liking her back.  And so the male protagonist comes up with a brilliant plan.  They should pretend to be a couple so that the rockstar gets jealous and falls for her.  Works every time.

And then what else?  So many amazing scenes happened that I can't remember all of them.  They do stuff to pretend they're a real couple.  And it's just like hockey somehow.  There's a parallel to the game.

Anyways, is this show popular?  Who watches this?  Teenagers who haven't been to college yet?  People who know nothing about hockey?  Audiences who aren't aware other shows exist?

Correction: the subject is Philosophy.  It is so important to pass this class that when they are actually in a tutoring session, the guy doesn't even turn off or silence his phone.  And shows up to class late.  And doesn't pay attention because they are too busy cuddling in front of everyone.  I think it would be great if instead of him passing the class, they both end up failing and get kicked off campus.
